Next comes “Spring” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The soloist was Richard Liu who gave a masterful performance with the Chamber Orchestra. Francesca Moorehead treated everyone with her soprano voice making full use of church acoustics while singing Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate.

After the intermission, the public was treated to the “Coronation Mass” also by Mozart. This lesser-known Mass was brilliantly sung by the entire Chapel Choir, giving solo tribunes to soloists Sophie Bellamy, Francesca Moorehead, Rosina Griffiths, William Playle-de Vries, Nicholas Hollands and Theo Wilson who all contributed excellent contributions.

The Chamber Orchestra, sometimes with the organ, was performed under the direction of Alex Laing and the Chapel Choir was conducted by music director and choir director Stephen Williams.

The spectators were full of praise for the excellent performances and really enjoyed their evening.

The concert was organized by the Melton Mowbray Rotary Club in conjunction with Uppingham School to raise funds for ongoing Rotary projects in the Philippines and other Rotary-supported charities.

At the end of the evening, I thanked the school for their continued support of the project by coming to Melton and providing the audience with great entertainment.
