It was truly a pleasure to hear a full orchestra on stage and be part of the audience’s delight.

The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra thanks all of our local musicians and the musicians who stepped in to help. We thank Maestra Mélanie Leonard for her work with the orchestra during this last concert, and for the many years that she was artistic director.

Yes, we are working on the 2022-23 season. Due to the pandemic and the scale of the reorganization that has been necessary, we still need time to be able to offer subscriptions. But a few clues about the season:

  1. The famous SSO Symphony Crawl will be back on October 1st; don’t worry, we’ll get you the details well in advance.
  2. The main series season opens on October 22 with the first of five main series concerts. Most of these concerts will feature a guest conductor, and yes, we want to know what you think after the show.
  3. The first show features Sibelius’ Suite Karelia, 2 Nordic Dances by Greig, Beethoven’s powerful Egmont Overture, a new piece by Larysa Kuzmenko, excerpts from Bizet’s Suites Carmen and a piece celebrating autumn by Christine Donkin.
  4. Our first guest conductor of the season and for the works above is Martin MacDonald.

About subscriptions: We are making some changes to ticket prices to make it easier for families and youth to attend. We will also offer an elite membership which will include premium seating and special meet and greet opportunities. All subscription credits accrued from canceled concerts will be valid for the 2022-23 season, after which they will expire.
