Orchestra music director Krzysztof Urbanski resigns
The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra has announced that musical director Krzysztof Urbanski will be leaving the orchestra in 2021. A search committee made up of musicians, ISO staff and board members will be formed to fill the gap. his position.
Urbanski was first music director of ISO in 2011.
ISO says Urbanski contributed record ticket sales, participated in the Kennedy Center’s SHIFT Festival of American Orchestras, and nurtured ISO’s versatility.
“At a time when orchestras around the world vie for top artistic direction, ISO has benefited from a decade of stellar leadership from Maestro Urbanski,” CEO James Johnson said in a press release. “Krzysztof’s passion for musical excellence has taken the artistic quality of our orchestra to new heights.
