Free S’pore Symphony Orchestra Concerts at Our Tampines Hub, Victoria Concert Hall & Gardens by the Bay in March – Mothership.SG

If you’ve always been curious about classical music, but never attended a live concert, here’s your chance.

You can attend Singapore’s national orchestra, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO), for free this month.

Due to restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, SSO has been performing in small groups and ensembles for almost two years.

But now the orchestra returns in larger ensembles and will bring classical music straight to Our Tampines Hub, Victoria Concert Hall and Gardens by the Bay to warm your hearts and enrich your souls.

On Saturday, March 5, take a seat at the Festive Plaza at Our Tampines Hub to watch SSO’s Brass Ensemble perform arrangements of these popular tunes:

  • Canon 1, by Paul Peuerl
  • Laputaby Joe Hisaishi
  • 细水长流 by Liang Wern Fook (“Friendship is Eternal”)
  • Selections from Porgy and Bessby Gershwin
  • Count me in, Singaporeby Hugh Harrison

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

SSO Midday Concert: Victoria Concert Hall

And if you’ve always walked past the iconic Victoria Theater & Concert Hall and wondered what it was like inside, now’s your chance to step inside.

See you there on March 10 (Thursday) for an easy-to-listen program of English string orchestral music by the SSO and experience the concert hall first-hand – free of charge.

It is a well-known genre of classical music, loved for its vibrant folk rhythms and nostalgic beauty.

Music in the Meadows: Gardens by the Bay

On March 12 (Saturday), SSO will return to Gardens by the Bay as a full string orchestra for the first time in two years.

The concert will be given live at 6:30 p.m. in front of an on-site audience.
